MATH IS HARD: PENTAGON "FINDS" ANOTHER $2 BILLION IN ACCOUNTING ERROR JUST IN TIME FOR NYE PARTY
The Daily Dumpster Staff
In what is becoming a quarterly tradition, the Pentagon has once again "found" a massive chunk of change—$2 billion, to be exact—buried in its accounting books. The discrepancy reportedly comes from a "valuation error" regarding military hardware sent to overseas allies. Apparently, when you’re dealing with a budget that has more zeros than a box of Cheerios, it’s easy to lose track of a couple billion between the sofa cushions of the war machine.
[OUR TAKE] If a regular citizen misplaces twenty dollars, they search the house; when the Pentagon loses $2 billion, they call it a Tuesday. It must be nice to manage a bank account where the errors always favor the house. We suggest using the "extra" cash to buy Ed a round of Bud Lights for the next century, though we suspect it’s already been earmarked for another "clerical" black hole.
